Privacy Policy

ApplyFirst (“the app”) is provided by ApplyFirst (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the app does with your data. In short: your data stays on your phone, the app only sends email you ask it to send, and it never reads your inbox.

What the app uses

• Google account details. When you sign in with Google, the app receives your name, email address and profile picture. They are shown in the app and used as the sender of your emails.
• Permission to send email (Gmail). The app asks only for the Gmail permission to send email on your behalf (gmail.send). It does not ask to read, list, search, modify or delete any email in your Gmail account.
• Your CV (PDF or Word file) that you choose to attach.
• Your drafts and history, including the recipient, company, subject and message of applications you wrote or sent, and their status.
• Your profile details that you enter: name, job title, skills, background, phone number and links, and an optional signature image.
• Job post screenshots or PDFs you pick. They are read on your phone (text recognition on the device) and are not uploaded.
• Settings such as language, appearance, haptics and reminders.

Where your data is stored

All of the above is stored only on your phone (and may be included in your own device backups). Your Google sign-in is kept in the iOS Keychain. We do not run a server for the app, and we cannot see your CV, drafts, history or emails. We never see your Google password.

Sending email

When you tap Send, the app sends the email and its attachments directly from your phone to Google’s Gmail service so that it is sent from your Gmail account. We do not receive a copy.

Optional AI features

The AI features are optional and only run when you tap them. When you do, the app sends the following to OpenAI to produce a suggestion: the job post text or the draft you chose, and your name, job title, signature text, skills and background. Your CV file, your phone number and links, and your Gmail data are never sent. OpenAI processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy. If you do not want this, do not use the AI features.

Notifications

If you allow them, the app schedules reminders on your phone to follow up on an application. These are local notifications. Nothing is sent to a server.

What we do not do

• We do not read your inbox or any email other than the ones you send with the app.
• We do not sell, rent or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising or tracking.
• We do not use analytics or advertising tools in the app.

Google API Services User Data Policy

ApplyFirst’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The app uses the Gmail permission only to send the emails you write, and does not use it for any other purpose.

Your choices and deleting your data

• In the app, open Profile → Settings → Your data to remove your saved CV, clear your history, reset templates, or delete everything and sign out.
• To disconnect Google, sign out in the app and remove ApplyFirst at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
• Deleting the app removes the data it stored on your phone.

Children

The app is intended for adults looking for work. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If the change affects how your data is used, we will tell you in the app.
